Here's the first of the new offerings - lots more made and underway.  Rex is a battle dino and has a Steg he fights with.  Crochet pattern coming very soon to Etsy.  GROWL.

I'm trying to pull together a collection of patterns and have given myself 3 weeks, it's the push I've needed (what with having a making space) to finally get on with making some new patterns and improving some old ones.  I'll be typing them up asap and getting them on here for people to work out the kinks.  For now here's the pieces for a rocket applique that just needs to be photographed and go together to be finished.

We have been transient for such a long time now it just feels normal.  We haven't lived in our house for nearly a year and trying to make a space to make has been really hard.  At the moment we're in the anaglyptic wonderland of my nan-in-law while the last throes of renovation happen, and I've finally been able to dedicate a little space to make.

Free Giant Pom Pom Hat Pattern

This does assume a  knowledge of how to crochet (and make giant pom poms)

You will need:

3 balls chunky yarn

10mm crochet hook

Abbreviations:

mr – magic ring

dc – double crochet

ch – chain

sl st – slip stitch

Use 2 strands of yarn at the same time and crochet as though they were one.

1. mr with double crochets x 12 (if this sounds too complicated, you can mr with 6 sc, then ch2 and dcx2 in each stitch around, but it really isn’t that hard)

2. dc x 2 in each stitch

3. ch 2, dc then dcx2 in the next stitch, repeat

4-9. ch 2, dc in each stitch, sl st

To make ear flaps:

10. ch2, dc in next 6 stitches, ch 2 turn, dc in next 4 st and sl st, cut yarn with enough to weave in eneds

11. On opposite side of hat (approx 8 stitches round from end of last flap) repeat step 10 but don’t cut yarn

12. sl st through each stitch all the way around the edge of the hat until you get to the ear flap, sl st approx 4 st through edge of flap until you get to the 2nd crochet of the 4 crochet flat edge

13. ch 60 and dc all the way back up the chain until you reach the flap again, sl st

14. carry on sl st all the way around the rest of the edge of hat until you get  back to the first ear flap and repeat

Make a MASSIVE pom pom and sew it to the top

The lovely Susannah Crouch (seen in Massive Pom Pom post modelling said hat) has been browsing yarn online for a good week now, and coined the phrase "yarn porn".  We have now set the challenge of making pinterest boards dedicated to this - the challenge being that she is completely techno-usless and has yet to start a pinterest account.  So for now here's a sample of mine...

The business I've been running for the last year, while a beautiful space, has been acting like a creative black hole, sucking every spare creative thought in to a vacuum of exhaustion and nothingness.  A month ago I made the decision to detach myself, hand back and over the weight of the business to those who should have it.  I have Mary Poppins'ed and got it all up, running and working smoothly and now it's my time to step back.

As soon as I'd made this decision it all came flooding right back.  This is the first pattern I have to show you and will be sharing for free really soon - monster pom pom crochet hat.  It was a commission by a gorgeous lady who designs costumes for movies and I love it.  There's a whole pile o stuff waiting to go on, and I really hope I'll now have the time and inclination to blog properly and get back to you all.
